Sport Pilot Eligibility Requirements
Be at least 17 years old
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Hold a valid Drivers License
(Comply with each restriction and limitation imposed by that U.S. drivers license)
Original Birth Certificate or Valid Passport.
Sport Pilot Training Requirements
Pass an FAA Knowledge Test.
(40 questions, 2 hours, 70 %)
Pre-solo exam
(with instructor)
Pass an FAA Practical Test with examiner (Checkride)
Minimum of 20 flight hours
15 hours with instructor (dual)
5 hours solo
Which must include:
2 hours cross-country training
10 take-offs and landings to full stop
One solo cross-country flight of at least 75 nautical miles total distance
Minimum 2 stops, with 1 leg at least 25 miles.
3 hours flight training preparing for the practical test.
